Every year, Pantone releases its dynamic color-of-the-year, a spirited hue that reflects and responds to the energy and state of the world across culture, entertainment, art, fashion technology and beyond. It's an exciting time for us, and is often a gauge of what design and imagery trends might pop up in the coming year.

This year it's Very Peri – a soft, yet vivid mix of blue and red. A new tangent resting somewhere between violet and purple. A symbol of possibility with just the right balance of warm and cool; hope and caution.

“The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer,” writes Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us.”
