With her dog by her side, BARK's Naveen Wall reflects on companionship and the bonds that shape us

At BARK, Naveen Wall leads retention — so she knows a thing or two about pets and the bonds they bring. In her curation Companionship,” she explores connection in all its forms, from everyday rituals to the relationships that make life feel fuller.
We spoke with her about patience, perspective, and the details that turn shared moments into lasting memories.

The Luupe: What does companionship look like for you?
Naveen Wall: Companionship is about presence, having someone or something by your side that makes the everyday moments feel fuller. It’s comfort, trust, and a sense that you’re not navigating life alone. For me, it’s the quiet moments as much as the loud ones.
The Luupe: How do pets make a house feel like home?
Wall: Pets bring energy, warmth, and unpredictability into a space. A house feels lived in when a dog is greeting you at the door or sprawled on the couch. They make a place feel less like four walls and more like family.

The Luupe: What do you think makes a person or brand magnetic?
Wall: Clarity and authenticity. When someone or a brand knows exactly who they are and isn’t afraid to show it, people can’t help but lean in. It’s confidence without pretense.
The Luupe: What turns a shared moment — with a person, animal, or place — into a lasting memory?
Wall: Details. The way the light hits, the smell in the air, or the sound of laughter. A lasting memory is usually rooted in a feeling that sticks with you long after the moment passes.

The Luupe: How does time in nature (or with animals) reset perspective?
Wall: It slows everything down. You’re reminded that life isn’t always about screens, deadlines, or noise. Nature and animals have a way of making the big stuff feel smaller and the small stuff feel big again.
The Luupe: What’s a lesson an animal or pet has taught you that you didn’t expect?
Wall: Patience. Dogs especially don’t care about your timeline, they care about the walk, the sniff, the moment. It’s a reminder to ease up and let life unfold.

The Luupe: If companionship had a “soundtrack,” what song(s) would be on it?
Wall: Better Together by Jack Johnson. It’s easy, genuine, and captures the simple truth that life always feels a little lighter when it’s shared.
The Luupe: What do you think we create together that we can’t create alone?
Wall: Connection. Alone, we can create beauty, but together we create belonging. That feeling of being seen and supported only exists in relationships.

The Luupe: What’s a little ritual you share with an animal or loved one that brings you joy?
Wall: Every morning my dog hops up onto my bed and buries his head close to me under the covers. I’ll give him a few quiet scratches and we take our time in that moment. It’s a little restful ritual I look forward to waking up to. A peaceful moment between us that always puts a smile on my face before we start our day.
